About Baskt

Baskt is a public, read-only database of grocery prices observed at New Zealand supermarkets. It is operated by Einherjar Systems Limited (NZ) for research, comparison, and downstream consumer-tool use.

Accounts

Browsing, searching and viewing items is anonymous and requires no account. To save grocery lists across devices you sign in with email — no password, just a one-tap link emailed to you. You can delete your account and all your data at any time by emailing hello@baskt.nz.

No warranty about prices

Prices are scraped from publicly accessible supermarket sites and cached. They represent observations at the time of capture and may be wrong, stale, regional, promotional-only, or out of stock. Always verify the price in store or on the retailer’s own site before making a purchasing decision. We provide no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.

Acceptable use of the API

You may query the public /api/v1/* endpoints for personal use, research, and integration into consumer-facing tools, subject to per-IP rate limits which we may adjust without notice. You may not:

We reserve the right to block IPs or networks that violate the above.

Trademarks and retailer marks

Names and logos of New Zealand supermarket chains (Pak’nSave, New World, Countdown, Woolworths, Fresh Choice, SuperValue, Farro Fresh, The Warehouse, etc.) are trademarks of their respective owners. Baskt references them descriptively to identify the source of price observations and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of those companies.

Liability

Baskt is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Einherjar Systems Limited and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Baskt — including but not limited to losses arising from reliance on scraped price data.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable New Zealand law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where it applies.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent change. Continued use of Baskt after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising in connection with Baskt will be dealt with in the courts of New Zealand.
